What is the difference between a personal chef and a private chef?
A private chef is employed by one individual or family full time, and often lives in, preparing up to three
meals per day. A personal chef serves several clients, usually one per day, and provides multiple meals that
are custom-designed for the clients’ particular requests and requirements. These meals are packaged and
stored, so that the client may enjoy them at his or her leisure in the future.
-
Do you only cook French food?
This is my specialty and what I cook the best. Try it and you will love it! However if you have a special
dish you like you can always ask me to prepare it. My aim is to satisfy your needs.
-
Where do you buy your products?
Most of my products come from Whole Foods, especially fresh products. I only buy organic meats, milk,
seafood and most fruit and vegetables. For typical bakery goods, I go to different stores.
-
Can you make organic meals?
Organic is my first choice because of the taste and freshness. However, I cannot offer all organic meals. In
order for my food to taste French, I had to find quite a number of products that are imported and
therefore not necessarily organic. Since I shop daily to provide you with fresh food, I cannot guarantee
that I will find the organic food I usually get because on that particularly day, there was none or they did
not look that good.
-
Do I need to be home while you cook?
Not necessarily. I can cook while you are at work. This will enable me to be efficient and you will not be
disturbed in your house. When you come back from work, it will be as if I had not been there except that
you will enjoy a fresh dinner and have a freezer filled with delicious meals. We will discuss this point the
first time we meet.
-
Will you use my kitchen?
Yes. I will bring all of my cooking utensils and small appliances needed. I will also bring the groceries
freshly bought the agreed day.
-
How long will you be in our house?
Depending on the plan you choose, times may vary. You can count 4 to 8 hours. This includes
unpacking, cooking, packaging, cleaning, packing.
-
How often will you come to my house?
This is totally up to you. With the fresh-freezer plan making 20 servings for a family of 4, I can come
weekly so you never have to cook again or I can come bi-weekly, monthly or whenever you do not feel
like cooking.
-
Can you use my containers?
I usually recommend using Pyrex glass dishes. They can be used in the microwave, oven or freezer and
will last longer than anything else. They also stack up very well in the freezer. If you do not own some, I
will buy them for you for a one time approximate fee of $100.
-
Can you pick up some groceries I need?
Yes. Just call or e-mail me the day before your cook date and for a service fee of $15, I will pick up the
items on your list. This is limited to things I can get while doing the shopping for your regular cook date
(usually, at Whole Foods).
-
What is the cost of baby jars?
Baby food will vary depending on your baby, his age, his habits, his allergies, his weight… When we
meet, we will be able to evaluate the needs of your baby. Keep in mind that it will not cost the same as
what you buy in a grocery store. All the jars will be made from fresh organic products without any
preservative. Most of all it will teach your baby the REAL TASTE OF FOOD. Later in life he will be
more open to any food.
-
Can you cook for companies?
Yes. The company however needs to own a kitchen. I will have to come to the company and cook there.
I can prepare desserts buffets, but also appetizers and quiches, salads...
-
The price seems to be the one of an entrée in a restaurant. Why is that?
The price includes transportation, menu planning, groceries, meals preparation, cleaning and packaging.
Think of the TIME you will gain by not having to think of a menu, go grocery shopping, make the meals
every day, go to the restaurant because you don’t want to cook, clean your kitchen after cooking. Think
also of the money you will save on gas or on wasted food you intended to prepare. You will be able to
enjoy your dinner or your party without having to do anything. You will even eat in a healthier way.
Imagine saving up to 15 hours per week and eating healthy? Isn’t it worth the price?
-
Do I pay ahead of each cook date?
Yes. I will need a $100 deposit prior to grocery shopping and full payment will be due on the day I come
to your house by either cash or check.
-
Do you have an insurance?
Yes. I have a full liability insurance specially designed for Personal Chefs through the American Personal
and Private Chef Association.
